the volkswagen looks like it hit something thin(pole) in order to have damage like that. see how sharp the crease is? i mean, if you t-bone something, you'll just have one big crumple.

It's possible. It really depends on the type of CF & epoxy/resin that was used as well as the amount of epoxy/resin per unit area. Composite matrices have very high resistance to elongation/deformation (modulus of elasticity) which means that it can endure much more a beating before it deforms. This is not necessarily good in automobiles as the force of the impact from an accident is not absorbed by the body of the car but by it's passengers.
