It probably bugs you because it happens so often.

Actually it's not just "the internet" it's the world. School is supposed to prepare you for the world and this is it. You were supposed to be learning something in school, not just killing time until the day was over and it was time to play.

It doesn't matter if people get an impression of you in person on the phone or over the internet, it's still their impression of you. Most people try to look good by dressing "good", your posts are the equivalent of the clothes you wear.

As far as clarity and spelling, well, that leads to understanding of what you are trying to say. Communication in other words. You DO want people to understand what it is you are trying to communicate in your well thought out and worded posts, don't you? How else will they see how clever you are?

Very few are perfect, but at least most try to get it right. As long as you are trying everyone will leave you alone.
