Default Mexico!

Who's been to Mexico? Where did you go? What did you see? Recommendations for a 1 week vacation?

cancun is one option, i have a home there as well if you want to rent it out.
its a very touristic place many people can speak english pretty well, and there is tons to do at night or day time
day time you could visit

day time
you can visit xcaret or take a boat to isla mujeres or snorkel , tres rios is a river but i cant remember what i did there cuz it was a long time ago...and there is this other place i forgot I went to but it was basically a cavern and you walk around it and see alot of wild life and play with monkeys haha.
if you are into artifiacts you can take a 2 hour ride to tolum
and learn about the mayan temples and actually see old villages.

at night time there is lots to do as well I heard the club scene is pretty big in cancun, but i wouldnt know i was like 14 last time I went

another place simliar to cancun you could visit is Acapulco or Puerto vallarta but these places are not as touristic ( i think) as cancun, you have to know spanish or else you will get lost in these places but they are just as nice.
dont forget the deep sea fishing

i'll tell you more places later ..

Thanks for the home rental offer, but I am only considering going down there for a week by myself, so I was leaning towards more of a resort kind of place. But if I was to do the trip with some of my friends at a later date, a house would be great! (pm me with some more details on that). As for what I'm looking for, I would say a place with a nightlife, snorkling, beach, and archeological ruins (or other interesting places to see). I don't speak spanish though.

I have only visited one actual ruin which was tulum, it was nice and the things you learn about the past were pretty interesting. supposesdly its one of the most important ruins because it was holy.
be prepared to walk alot in hot temp.

Xcaret also has some ruins ( but its mainly a park) they did not have tour guides , one thing i remember in xcaret was the ball court and the mini tournament they held.. i think it was very nice addition to the experience

maybe others who have visited cancun for its history can chime in

Cancun rocks. I stayed at the Gran Caribe Real Cancun. . All inclusive baby. There are more exclusive resorts, however this is one of the best and wont break your bank. Try to get a airline package. From talking to people there they paid about 1/2 of what you would pay getting the rates on your own. Visit the ruins, go snorkeling, and enjoy the nightlife. You can't lose. I do not recommend Cabo San Lucas. It's a dump compared to Cancun.

Dude, go to the news stands quick and see if you can pick up a copy of February's issue of Lucky magazine. In it is a pretty simple yet fact filled guide to all the Mexican hot spots. I'd take some photos and post'em here but I gotta respect copyright laws
