Default Michael Jordan Is Back!

I am one of the many who followed MJ through the years. Watching him play was one of those things that sent chills down my spine. He was exciting and charismatic, on and off the court. I read his biography and his life is an amazing one to say the least.

Today, he officially announced that he has signed a 2 year deal to play with the Washington Wizards. He also stated that his entire salary will go to the aid of the WTC tragedy. I thought that was a very respectable thing to do, even for a gazillionaire.

There have been a lot of people voicing their opinions about how this is a bad decision for him, but you know what? Just the thought of seeing him play again excites me all over again. No other sports star has risen to the level he has, and I look forward to seeing him again.

His Airness is back!

Give it up Old Man!

He went out with the storybook ending. Game winning shot in the NBA finals. No better ending than that. I love MJ but I don't want to see his fat old butt making a mockery of his tremendous legacy. I'm sure he will still be better than 80% of the guys in the NBA but he won't be the monster that he once was. Not to mention he will be on the Wizards. Yuck!

Ted Williams hit a homer in his last ever at bat. Did he come back two years later and play for some crappy team?

Elway was Superbowl MVP and walked away. Can you see him coming back now to QB the Redskins?

I wish he would just fade away with class like other greats have done.

As a Chicago native that has watched everything that Jordan has done, collected a crapload of collectable stuff, seen, in person, 100's of games that Jordan played in, watched in disbelief when he retired the first time, jumped for joy when he came back and wondered why he retired the second time - this is a day of mixed emotion.

The greatest player to play the game played on my team and now he is on another team. That sucks.

The greatest player ever went out on top like no one we have seen in many years and now he is back to play for a team that hasn't won a playoff game in 20 years. That sucks.

Michael is back. That's great for the game.

Chicago will always be Mike's home, but it is sure going to be strange seeing him in something other than a Bulls jersey.

Let's hope he is still the Mike of old. The one that made me sing, "I wanna be like Mike" for all those years. Let's hope he doesn't tarnish that legacy that made him the greatest athlete ever according to ESPN.

I'm also excited about seeing him play again, but I do think he has alot to lose and not much to gain by coming back. I don't think the Wizards will be a playoff team next year.

Remember, this year is the first year of the zone defense in the NBA. This will take away some of his one on one play making ability.

Go Mavericks...

I`ve been a Jordan nut since he was a rookie. Had every pair of "jordan`s", shirts, hats, etc. As much as I`d like to see him play again, watching him and the wizards sucks. I don`t even think they`ll make the playoffs. I`d like to see him as a free agent in Orlando or Philly

If he's in excellent shape, then he'll be just fine. His basketball iq is still in tact. His competitiveness is still there and always will be. It's possible to be stronger than he ever was if he was hitting the weights. Also, he can have just as much stamina as before if he kept his conditioning up. He won't be as quick or explosive, but he'll work around that.

MJ is arguably (not arguably by me) the best player to EVER play the game. He has a competitive fire in him that burns like no other player in any sport. If Darrell Green can still be competitive in the NFL at age 38, then why can't MJ in the NBA. Basketball is much easier on the body. Besides, MJ was so far ahead of everyone else that he can loose a couple of steps and still dominate. I've watched players like Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson and Vince Carter and thought... wow, the next MJ. Then I'd catch Bulls game on ESPN classic and wonder what I was thinking, there will probably never be another Michael Jordan, I say enjoy him while we can.
