that's odd, I've never had any major issues with any of my pc's....

I never understood the apple/pc rivalry. they both have their pro's and con's
Both sides foster the rivalry b/c it makes a big deal out of nothing.

I've never had an issue with any of my PCs, either, but kids/girls/non-computer literate folks always end up with viruses, probably because they click on every damn thing that they see.

Apple has the "pinwheel of death." That's what I call the little bastard when it appears on my wife's MacBook.

Funny stuff. And I agree 100% DFWs2K...if you go around clicking everything...then what do you expect. True in the "real" world too.

I don't understand this. Microsoft sells software
Their Zunes are pretty good. The upcoming HD Zune should be pretty nice.

Laugh all you want, but my 3 yr-old Zune is still going as strong as ever. It does all I need as a media player. Let me guess, you're an iPod fanboi.

I think my Zune as a Honda. Enough said!

I'm sure it wasn't the 4% marketshare zune has he was laughing at. I can't imagine what Microsoft thinks they're going to sell in these stores that will drive traffic. It won't be the zune and I can't imagine enough people buy boxed versions of microsoft software to justify a dedicated store. They do make nice mice and keyboards though.

I think the purpose is not really to sell directly but to have presenters show "how easy" Windows is - this will be done on specially built and QA'd rigs that are tested to perform a certain set of tasks with an IT department behind the scenes making sure nothing mucks up. Maybe they won't even be connected to the Internet in some cases.

I think MS is trying to copy Apple's "come in and play" and "let a genius show you" store operations but instead is doing more of the "let us show" you stuff - more of a "you can't do this on a Mac" stuff while at an Apple store its more of "look at all you can do". That's my take anyway.

I'm kind of surprised MS is dumping so much money and effort into this given that Apple has such a small market share, but MS has a track record of bad ideas that cost hundreds of millions of dollars. Like the last retail store MS tried to set up - big failure.
