Military ?
recruiters get 75/month for taking prospects, applicants and members of delayed entry out to eat, but they have to claim it each month on an expense report
- anyway
all branches, reserve or active, offer good programs and each has their own unique mission, and can benefit those with the desire and ability to serve. they each carry the possibility of putting yourself into a high-risk situation in both training and warfare.
much can be said about choice of job, money for college, job training and promotion potential, but bottom line, they're all about the same

I am in a similar position as you. Unless something unexpected happens in the auto industry, I plan on going to Officer Training School and joining the Air Force with my Mechanical Engineering degree.
From speaking with several members and reading a lot, it seems like a stable form of work and you get to serve your country. Unless you have a problem with authority, I can't think of a more balanced job.

I was just joking. Seriously though, you cant go wrong with any branch. Im in the Marine Corps and i love it, just remember its up to you and what you want. Do your own research and make your own decision. Like I said, good luck.
I was thinking of joining the AF, too, but to eventually become a commercial airline pilot. I should make a thread with some of my questions as I think I've seen a few pilots on here...
This is what I do, had the chance to go to OCS as I do have a degree but I rather dive instead. I am coming up on a year in and have push button e-4 (made it through dive school you get e-4, and 35-40K bonus). Due to when I graduated I can also take the e-5 in March, last cycle for those that passed it was 100% advancement.
So far everything has worked out. People I graduated with are working dead end jobs or not working at all more than a year after graduation (same people that laughed at me when I told them I was joining). Mean while I am working a good job that won't lay me off making good money for my age all things considered (the economy).
