Mingster's selling based replies
I think we have to accept that there is no free lunch when it comes to finding loads of useful and interesting information about your car on a board like this
- I don't think it states it is a commercial free zone.

Mingster's a pretty straight up guy. While I know he's trying to make his business a success he talked me out of buying one of his products because he felt it wasn't the right product for me. He even gave me suggestions of products that others sell that might suit me better.
Kudos to Rich!
Yes, he does use this board to sell his products but he pays for the right to do it. He also adds much to the board in other ways. If he bothers you just don't read what he has to say.

The thing I don't like about some of the go fast part marketing is that some of the tech claims are rather shakey. To be charitable. But they sound good enough to the lay person. I don't know the legal status of message board marketing claims, but some of the ones I have seen could not be printed in a magazine since the threat of investigation would prohibit it, IMHO.

I'll go against the grain and say that it bothers me too. I don't come here to read about any of the sponsors current inventory. I also don't like when someone posts "What is the best CAI?", and someone replies with "We have the Spoon CAI in stock." How does that help this person figure out what the "best" CAI is? I think that commercial advertising should be left to the banner ads, that's what they are there for.
