minnesota nice
After living in Minnesota, I've noticed that within five minutes if someone or myself is having car troubles on the side of the road someone stops by to help with a cell phone, or to push the car, etc. Maybe it is because people understand the harsh cold weather. If you are driving down the highway or on some road during the day and you are in no rush... and you see someone on the side of the road that looks like they need help would you stop to help?
When I was going to school in the UP of michigan, I'd stop (and did on several occaisions) - I figured if I didn't, there was a 50-50 chance they'd die or something else bad would happen, given the remoteness and cold. But around here, I doubt I would. Just a different vibe from the people.
