Andy - welp, I have back problems as well. Had them since '89 and long drives really don't favor my back but I put up with them. Not to be too offensive here, but in the UK, you can't do *that* much driving, can you? =)

*chuckles*

I guess a Saturday drive for 10 hours (meals, photo shoots, fill up for gas, get caught by cops and all) adding up to 527 miles of twisties can't be accomplished? or... am I wrong?

Honestly, I don't know if there is a perfect seat. I do have a just about perfect chair in my living room, but it is too big to fit in my car!

Long drives are not a problem as long as you stay away from the densely populated areas (that is obviously where the jams occur).
We have some beautiful countryside (Wales, Scotland the Peak District etc).
The longest drive I did in the car was for 7 hours (plus a 1 hour break mid point) and I have to admit my back was perfect, my legs got a bit stiff but no real problems at all.
From what I have seen of American roads, you guys have a much better deal though.

Andy, I'm with you; I find the S2000 seat pretty daggone comfy too! When I drove to Asheville, NC in April, I spent roughly 21 hours in the car one way, and my back didn't hurt at all (this coming from someone who has spent a LOT of time in doctor's offices for back pain). I guess it's all personal preference, but it's rare that car seats don't hurt me, and the S2000's are great!
