Sprint is garbage these days. Even my Nextel humping friends have jumped ship.

I do not hate the service. A girl by me in pre-cal is always saying she gets no signal while I get 4/6 bars. It is mostly the phones that cause them to fail. They are absolutely retarded and refuse to switch over to SIM cards or whatever they are called. My phone can't even bluetooth ring tones from other phones it can only use a bluetooth headset. They are afraid if they use SIM cards people will use their phones for other services.

It pisses me off when i see an old blackberry for $30 online in good condition and I am stuck with this same phone for 2 years, or I could go and pay $200 for a new sprint phone.
its not as simple as just adopting sim cards though. its an entire network change. sprint is a CDMA carrier, and to use sim cards they would have to change every single tower to a GSM or UMTS signal. thats a huge financial layout. hell, t-mobile cant even get 3g properly deployed quickly. now try to imagine an entire network change. plus, that would make every single sprint phone currently in circulation unusable, as their internal antennae are CDMA. now theyd also have to look at providing new phones for their entire customer base.

so you can see how it is nearly impossible for sprint at this point to shift.

mind you, i hate sprint. in central valley of california they are horrible. but i just figured i would throw the above info out there. not that they maybe are resisting changing, but rather that it would be too large and expensive an undertaking.

BTW, you can buy used sprint phones on ebay or other retailers, and take them in and have them activated at a store. all the guy behind the counter needs to do is change the phone on your account, and youll leave with a working new phone.
