Back in the fifties, before "light polution" was such a problem, you could see the northern lights even in North Texas on cold, clear winter nights. For an interesting shot of the lights, go to:http://www.ptialaska.net/~hutch/4500ani.html

No filters, No photoshop adjustments. Straight from the sky to the film to the print. I kind of wish there would have been other colors because I have seen pictures of rainbow type displays.

Try a total eclipse of the sun. That is the most amazing thing I've ever seen -- I've seen four of them.

That's pretty cool. This weekend, I'm planning to go see the Leonids meteor shower out in the desert (Joshua Tree). I'll see if I can get any god pics of them.

Possibility Leonids will swarm -- up to 1,000 per hour. Happened a couple of times in the early 20th century. People who saw it thought it was the end of the world.

1998 was a good year with meteors coming in in 3 at a time and more. Some were so bright the ground would be lit for a fraction of a second. Hope it doesn't cloud up.http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2001/ast08nov_1.htm

Thanks for the link. Now I know what the best time to look into the sky is. Looks like I'll be staying up late on Sat. night.
