Default more reasons to drive responsibly --

from another Honda list I'm on --

Hey guys

Bad things happen to those people who drive fast...On Wednesday
6:44pm, I crashed my 4 door into another honda... accord. Now I have
criminal charges awaiting me in trial this coming week becuase of
all this. I had my girl friend in the passenger seat, they had to
get her out with the Jaws-of-life. Pay no mistake she is very upset
with me, but i ask myself why...im soo happy she is still alive to
tell about it, but thats not what her mom thinks...she absolutely
hates my gutts...I had a 4 door civic that was converted to SI not
to long ago.... i have pictures of it at
hometown.aol.com/bperez1011 . Thats only if u want to take a look at
what was... and no longer is. Accidents suck the major one, and it
feels like i have now lost everything, my pride and joy (car) and
who knows even my girl...and the people i hit from
behind...damn...lets not even get started with them. There were 4
people in that car... and from what i heard there was a child in
there...NO I WAS NOT DRUNK.... i was trying to pass these people in
the turning lane (going quit fast) to ending up seeing this accord
in front of me, stopping to let this guy turn to the left into some
trailer park... well going, from what i was told... about 70mph i
saw that the guy in front of me was stopping... and soo i slammed on
my brakes only to have my car screeching 40 feet and hitting him
from behind....daamn... this sucks.... parts and shit were flying
everywhere. At night since this has happened... i cant sleep... i
cant even close my eyes.... those images keep playing inside my head
over and over again.... taunting me... I cant believe i did
this...and for what... i was trying to get some chinese rice for me
and my girl... now its like im trying to keep my head up through all
this shit... insurance people callin, waiting for a court hearing, i
have the mother of my girlfriend calling me and threatening to kick
my ass.... yyo wtf...and i go to school and work too...

Let's see, driving too fast for traffic, passing someone in the turn lane, not paying attention to his surroundings. I feel bad for his girlfriend and the people in the other car to have to suffer at the hands of this asshole. Hopefully they sue him for millions and he get some serious charges out of it. If he is being that stupid behind the wheel then he deserves whatever he gets. People that drive that incompetently have no business driving at all.

Cast the first stone...

While I agree that what he did is wrong, at least he feels remorse about it. What, you never make mistakes in your life?

I hope everyone in the car will be okay.

I agree, I have made mistakes and I have done some things in the past behind the wheel that were not exactly safe. I am glad that he realizes his mistake and feels remorse, I am glad that no one was killed. But learning from your mistakes also means standing up, taking responsibility, and suffering the consequenxes of your actions. Hefty tickets, loss of license and paying for the innocent victims continuing medical coverage would be deemed a good punishment/lesson. By the way, I just got done having a conversation with my anti christ ex-wife when I posted the first time, there may be a tinge of misdirected anger there.

I would say he definately needs to pay for his mistakes, and by the sound of what happened, he's already paid about 90% of what he should have to. Yes, he made a stupid decision...we all have and gotten away with them without thinking twice. If he had done this several times and torn apart many lives, or had been drinking, I say throw the book at him. Chances are, this will live in his memory for a long, long time. I just hope nobody was seriously injured. Good luck.

I agree with 94 and rally. Sometimes we acquire different personalities behind the wheel. I urge myself constantly to conquer my urges and drive responsibly and mostly I'm happy with my driving habits. We drive a very spirited car and I don't feel the need to show off or pass someone inappropriately, and when I see an impatient driver behind me, I move to the right and feel great about it.
I hope you learned your lesson and keep your girlfriend.
