Morris...The Joker
Hay Morris
Saw your post on the misspelled thread. My wife and I are going to be in Napa Valley for three days... arrive Monday January 28-leave Thursday January 31. We have reservations for the French Laundry on Monday and would appreciate a couple of ideas for the other two days. We are also going to Pacific Edge in Carmel, Fifth Floor and Gary Danco in San Fran. Going to hit a few wineries also. Staying at the Maison Fluere' in Yountsville.
Best wishes.

Laird, you better connect with the Joker.. have him buy you guys lunch. This is the lunch he promised me if I came to visit him. So I donate it to you.
Also, he get's kinda pouty if you are in town and don't visit with him.

The French Laundry? The French Laundry? How did you manage that? That's as hard to get in to as the Oval Office! All restaurants after that will be downhill, but a few of our favorites are: Tra Vigne (St. Helena- Italian), Mustards (no reservations, no. of Yountville) Livefire in Yntvll (great filet mignon), Bistro Jeanty (Yntvll), Cafe LeHaye in Sonoma and Bistro Don Giovanni on Hwy 29 north of Napa.
There are about 250 wineries just in this Valley, so take your pick. If you like red wine, don't miss Silver Oak. For the best caves and good wine see Jarvis, on the road to Lake Berryessa from Napa. Groth, Hess and Joseph Phelps are good to visit, the latter with the best wine, and Niebaum-Coppola for a touristy spot with museum of F.F.Coppola memoribilia. (Jarvis and Phelps need reservations) Beringer has a good tour but go in the 2 story house, upstairs , for wine tasting of the good stuff. If you want more info, or have time and want to meet, PM me. After months of rain, we are having sunshine. Hope it sticks around for you.
