Move to America
Hey!
This may not be the proper forum, i know. But still i'm asking for opinion and help.
I have some friends from here on facebook and have talked to them wich would be the best place to move.
I live in a small country west Europe and i'm not happy with how things are going and i'm not happy with my life, i can't see a brighter future here. This country is full of corruption and has no jobs, it's going down to the bottom of the Atlantic and i want to move.
I own a S2K, and i have to sell it. Stoped it more than a year ago becuase i couldn't afford gas, insurance and a anual tax we have to pay here. I didn't want to sell it, this car is more than half of my life, my passion. Nothing can make me happy and put that stupid smile on my face like this car, even when i'm down, just go for some corners and there you go: feeling better. I think we all here can understand all these feelings, right?
I'm jobless now and finishing my degree(not on highschool). I'd love to get the money i earn after selling my stuff and move.
So, after some searches i've decided that Florida or South California would make me feel more at home and be the best choices.
Now theres the other part, getting a job and being legal. For now, all i would ask would be a room and job, and my s2k in time. This is enough to make me happy! (S2K stock was never an option lol but n/a)
My dream is to invest or create a company, in the car or music scene, but that will take its time.
So, imagine this guy with one bag and a wallet in a strange country, no friends, not much money, looking to start a new life from zero.
Would you help? What is your advice? What would you do? Where would you start? How to get a job? Best way to be legal? Etc...
Here is a S2K fellow who would do anything in life to own another one 'till death. Leaving all that's left behind, requires some courage. 2013 gotta change my life!
Thank in advance.

Please contact The United States Department of State about immigrating here legally. Thank you.
I though about posting there, but i just don't wanted to bring attention only to people in California.Despite Cali being my main goal, i wanted all the Americans to give me some advices. I'll let the moderator decide if he should move this thread or not. It still be helpfull having them all to see this.
Getting a green card through a job would be awesome! I've searched on the internet and found nothing.
I can study too, but i need to stabilize my economy.

I would strongly recommend staying away from high cost of living areas of the country like Southern California. Things won't really get better there either. Even if you do find a job, you'll find yourself living paycheck to paycheck, simply because things are so expensive.
You need to pick a part of the country that is desperate for young men who are willing to do hard labor. I'm thinking the gas and oil field. Places like Texas, Louisiana or the Dakotas. If you're in the Bakken Oil Field in North Dakota, it is almost impossible to NOT find a job. Conditions will be rough, but you suck it up and deal with it for a few years while you establish yourself financially and establish your future.

I don't know much about how to get legalized, but I live in Oklahoma and like clawhammer said, it's one of those places that has a low cost of living. Real estate is very cheap here, but another thing is that the people are extremely nice too. They're the kind of people to pull over and help a complete stranger who just got a flat or got in a wreck. More specifically I would look into Edmond. I spent my high school years there and my parents still live on the outskirts. It's a quaint, nice little town with very nice people and a fair amount of jobs. Goodluck!!

Yeah, the important is to get inside, dosen't matter where to start.
I live in a very expensive country. Minimum paid: 485€ a month, and they want to lower it more to 390€. A, small and very old, house (1room, kitchen, bathroom, 1living room) costs +300€ per month. Food for a month +/-100€. Gas: 1.90€ per Litre! Insurance: +250€ per year (depends on your age, how many years you have licence, and your car).
You can do the math... It's expnesive, and impossible to live.
I don't think it works the same way in Cali or other state in America but i understand your point. Just coming from a € zone where you earn less a day than an our in $ usa, you gotta check the diferences. But also avoiding that routine: paycheck after paycheck.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, here i pay 23% VAT, adding to all that.

Think about it from the employer's perspective. What sets you apart from the other applicants? If you go somewhere like California, you're not really going to be qualified for anything other than a retail job or fast food. In the cities, you may start at $10/hour. How many hours are they going to give you? 40? That's $1600 a month. You pay taxes from this, so you'll probably be only left with less than $1500. You can get a cheap studio apartment in the Ghetto for $500/month, but do you really want to live there? Probably not.
If you move to the oil fields in North Dakota, there are more jobs than people. Anyone who can fog up a mirror can get a job, and if you're willing to work a lot, you can probably make over $100,000 a year. Conditions will be rough, you'll be working all the time, but you'll have a future. Sure beats a retail job in a place like SoCal where there is stuff to do, but you don't have any money to do them.
So, a room in Cali is like 1000$? Wich lefts me 500$ or less for the basics. Isn't that enought to live? I'm just trying to compare, not saying you're not right.
Being illegal means no job, even in North Dakota, right?
