Default Moving to Florida

My wife was stationed in Florida some years back. She is always going on about wanting to move back. She is a nurse and can pretty much work where she wants. I have lived in Oregon all of my life. While I love the state, the idea of palm trees, white sand beaches etc. is appealing, at least for a while. What area/city would you recommend?

White sand would be more Gulf Coast; but I live too far for a trip to the gulf so I am fine with the Atlantic.

Yah, the panhandle and Pensacola/Destin stretch are beautiful places to live, and are great in regards to fishing as well. Lots of Spanish and King Mackerel with Red Fish and Amberjack out there, even a good bit of Shark fishing (mainly just sand and tiger sharks). I know Casinos were legalized in Florida recently, but you can always come to Biloxi/Gulfport as well and check out the culture here. Ocean Springs, MS is one of the top-rated places to live in the Southeast and both it and Biloxi are taking off after Katrina. I can't really speak for the Atlantic or further down the Gulf Coast towards Tampa and Orlando, but I am biased to this area ;-)

Gulf! I've lived on both coast and like the Gulf Coast much better. Sorry PrimoGen.

I prefer the Panhandle but the southern Gulf Coast is very nice also.
