Moving to Florida
both sides have their merits....
I just particularly like the east coast because of the water and the off shore fishing and that would also equate to the south as well.
50 miles out.... I guess the fishing is about the same. As far as beaches there is good stuff all over the state

I live in Miami now which is a lot of fun, but I used to live in the Tampa Bay area, which I loved. It's nothing like Miami but is much more laid back, and affordable. Plus the weather in the Tampa Bay area is the probably one of the best and sunniest in all of FL IMO. Sarasota is also very pretty as well. It's more expensive, older crowd but very charming.
I don't know how old you and your wife are and what type of lifestyle you're looking for but I would check out Tampa and Sarasota.

Jeeze, you know the Florabama!
Do you know the real story of how the Redneck Rivera nickname started?

I spring breaked in Destin, Ft Walton when I was in hs/ college. I also had a buddy who had a condo and a 3 story yacht docked out back. We'd pick up chicks at Florabama and take them to the yacht.

We didn't have to drive that far. We'd take them back to a houseboat on the Bon Secour River. We didn't play scrabble but we did teach biology by brialle.
