Default Moving in Manhattan.

Just got a quote from Flat Rate Movers. They want $1420 to move my loft from SoHo to the East Village.

Anyone in Manhattan (or used to live there) have any suggestions for other movers to use? In NYC, these guys are like sharks, so I picked Flat Rate because they seem better. Am I wrong.

Just fishin' for input. TIA.

U-Haul and lots of friends. There are always people handing out flyers for movers on the Upper West Side but I don't know if I would use them. I know our company uses United but we get a corporate rate from them so that is no help either.

Moving Man Inc.
I think they are located uptown, but one of my good friends used them to move from Stuy town up to Washington Heights, where he bought a place.

He said they did a really good job and charged $85/hour (not sure how many people were used).

Doesn't hurt to call and get quotes.

Thanks. U-Haul is out of the question, since all my big friends are out of town on that weekend. (No, I didn't tell them I was moving before I asked.)

Reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where they helped Keith Hernandez move.
