Nomad Jukebox. I like it a lot, but it's not really portable.

i also got the rio 500, 32MB + 128MB storage. works great. no complains. well, maybe i can bitch about i paid too much for it and i wish for rechargeable battery included.
which ones are you looking at?
if you have digital camera, try to get one that you can share your RAM card with.
my preference is to get one which uses 1 AA size battery (rio 500 does), i am just not a big fans of AAA batteries and i have AA rechargeable battery handy.

just my 2 cents.

I have a music server in my stereo cabinet. I use Winamp. Right now I have enough MP3s for five days of audio. I think I only have about half of my CDs ripped.

Ohhhh...and my price......free.

Let's see:

In the car: Empeg/Rio Car, 40gb
Portables: Rio 600, Rio 800 (128mb), Rio Volt SP100
And in the Home: A server box with 60gig full of music with more to be ripped, plus beta testing a couple of other products.

Employee Pricing is a good thing.

i-Pod: No windows client yet although the firewire connection is nice, much faster than USB.

Nomad Jukebox will hold 1000+ songs and it has a nice Windows client. You can get a
Jukebox for $200 and I can tell you it
