Yeah, since we're using anecdotal data to prove the reliability of different PC brands, my mac mini has been perfect except for a bum hard drive and apple doesn't make those.

Well, technically I doubt they "make" anything in their PC's, but they still do source them and specify their requirements.

True, but a hard drive is a hard drive.

1) I used PCs for a decade before switching to Apple... at least for me, once you go Mac you never go back

2) You have to be kidding! Have you priced a Mac lately???!

I can get a "decent" PC laptop for $500 or less... my PowerBook was almost $2k.

I find that most people that "hate" a particular operating system do so out of ignorance and an unwillingness to learn.

and for the record ms uses macs because theyre cheaper not becuz theyre better

I remember seeing a picture awhile back of a guy from MS giving a speech, but he had a Macbook.
It happened during a common conference. The apple was left over from a previous company spokesperson, and the Microsoft person giving a a speech just happened to be there.

I really doubt someone got fired from Microsoft because they showed a pic of Appl eproducts being lifted in. A company has every interest to observe and analyse its competitors products. Have you guys ever seen what goes on in the back room of GM, Ford and co? They've got rows and rows of MB's, Lexus' and so on, being put to pieces in order to understand what makes their competitors tick.

On top of that, the Office suite of products on Apple's OS is a great money maker for Microsoft, so they need to develop products for that as well.

Some ppl blowing things out of proportion IMO.

That is hardly the case. Having friends that work in the hardward component business, hard drives similar to CPUs are binned according to certain perimeters. Different vendors specify different requirements, one being MTBF's, so even though vendor A and vendor B might have externally the same hard drive, internally one is a better drive then the other.

i think 90% of the users that swap over to Macs have NO idea what theyre doing. theyre doing it because of the "fad". i cant tell you how many people have told me "im switching to a MAC because i hate windows!" when theyre the ones who originally created their issues. idiots are idiots, regardless of OS

i have been a diehard pc user for 20 some years. i purchased my first macbook pro this february and i can tell you, i will never switch back. yes, it took some time to get use to, and some things you just can't do on a mac, but the stability and the quickness will never get me to go back.

now, i did spend a lot for the MBP or i am sure if i spent the same thing on a highend PC, i would get the same thing... except i would be stuck with vista... which blows...
