1. they won't try him for shit, and if they do, he'll walk.
2. if by some miracle he actually went to jail, it wouldn't be jail as you and i think of it. the guy wouldn't be free or anything, but he wouldn't be in the kind of danger you're assuming.
i'm stating this based almost entirely on cynicism ... but i think i'm right.
