Is My Cat Okay???

I just don't get the fascination people have with cats. When my wife moved in with me she brought her cat along. The thing is so unfriendly and never wants to do anything except eat and sleep. The only excercise he gets is when my dogs chase it around the house (when they are bored).

To each their own turbo_pwr, I think dogs are dumb and I'm not trying to start a cat Vs, dog war!
All animals have their own personality, not all cats are aloof, and yes, I have met a few dogs that I actually liked.

I just love their individual personalities. When I was young we had a cat we named Stupid when it was a kitten, the name fit. It was rejected by the mother at birth, we kept it alive with an eyedropper of baby formula for weeks, eventually it got the drinking thing down. Even after it was able to feed itself the mother wanted nothing to do with it. We sold/gave away the kittens to good homes, kept the mother and Stupid. Eventually the mother accepted Stupid and they became buddies, but believe me, Stupid was stupid. That silly cat gave us unless hours of entertainment. The vet said it just never bonded to the mother and it was very confused about what it was to be a cat.
It was clumsy, it would fall off the darndest things, but land on its feet. It would jump from one thing to another and completely screw it up- too far, bang into the wall, too short, bang into the side of the chair. It loved the water, always wanted to hang out in the bathroom sink or the shower stall. It would curl up in the bed with the family dog way before it would hang out on a chair with the mother cat. It would follow you all over the house and it just had to be next to you, no matter what. Stupid was one of my favorite animals of all time! Talk about a personality, boy, did he have one!

And let me just say, I really believe it is harder to train a cat than it is a dog. I suspect a lot of people give up trying or just believe they can get through to a cat. And like everything else, there are always going to be cats and dogs that are very difficult to get through to.
