I've been burning CD on the computer for over a year now and i have always used the same CD-R's. But now this stupid computer is rejecting the CD-R everytime i put one in.

My computer is a hp Pavillon Pentium 4 and my recorder burn up to 8x's speed.
I use a Memorex CD-R 80mins 700mb

So, if you guys can help me out thanks, and i want 2 know what kind of brands do you use for your CD-R's

The only time I've ever seen problems like you are talking about it wasn't related to the CD's. It was actually a software problem. In one case, a uninstall and a reinstall of the burning software worked and the other case required a reload of Windows.

Good luck!

Perhaps there's some dust on the laser lense? Might want to look in the manual (or online) to see if there's a way to clean the lense.

Nero is probably the best burner soft out there try that. Otherwise, just sounds like MS problems again. I hate computers I swear!

Chances are, it's a dirty lens. Reading and writing typically use two different lasers, and most models have at least two beam-splitters. The fans on your computer case not only work to keep the machine cool, they also work to suck in eight pounds of dust and coat everything. I had a similar problem (intermittent blown discs) with my burner a while back, so I took it apart, cleaned it, and put it back together. Worked like a charm. Of course, if you're squeamish about electronics, don't do it yourself.

chroot is correct. different lasers do different things. one for audio, one for data and of course another for writing. thus, testing with an existing cdrom to see if it reads wouldn't really work at all.

glad it finally worked. all I have to say is "that's windows for you!"

/my two cents
