While I love my s2ki bros and they do have alotta knowledge, your best bet is to have him go see a doctor, thats the best advise you can get.

In HS, sophomore year, I used to get nosebleeds everyday in math class. It would take like 5-10 mins for it to stop. I would feel it coming everytime and just get up and run to bathroom. Went to visit a doctor and he gave me some kind of allergy medicine and never had it again.

But one time as a kid, about 12 years old, I was bleeding so much and parents got scared and was about to call the ambulance but luckily it stopped. Had my head tilted back and nose plugged to prevent it from bleeding.

I had nose bleeds all the time as a kid. finally an ENT found that i had a deviated septum.
scheduled surgery and took muscle from behind my ear and patched the hole in my nose. healed in a month.
good as new, havent had one in 15 years.

BTW,
if you take a square of toilet paper fold it up and wet it with cold water and stick it in your upper lip, kind of the opposite of chewing tobacco, it stops the bleeding very quickly.

As a youth I suffered from frequent, somewhat serious nosebleeds. I was in Germany with my family on vacation and I got one and we couldn't get it to stop. Some non-English speaking man was having a coffee on a patio and came over and crudely explained that he was a doctor. My mother was somewhat suspicious but allowed him to leave and come back with a napkin and white vinegar, then proceed to soak the napkin and shove it up my nose.

It stung like heck but I guess it did something to cauterize it. Was a handy tip that I've used a couple times since.

OP, since you are in Dallas as am I. I'm sure it's mainly due to the heat and dry climate.

I get nose bleeds every summer as well, usually after coming home from work just to wash my face and all of a sudden nose bleed.

As far as the blood clot, that's really serious and scary if it's that big.

Let us know what the doctor says.
