I use to work at a place where I got to drive a lot of cool cars (no I did not park cars). I got to drive cars like the Ferrari F40, Callaway Speedster Twin Turbo, RUF 911, AMG Hammer, etc. Thinking about this made me want to ask my fellow S2000 owners what was the best car you have ever driven (besides the S2000 of course) and if you could drive any car in the world what would it be? As for me here is my answer.

BEST CAR I HAVE DRIVEN

Porsche 993 Turbo- I have not driven the new turbo, but the 993 turbo is an awesome car. What more can you ask for tons of power (0-60 in 3.9 secs), AWD, Great shifting, amazing brakes, handles like a dream, and not as wild as the 911 turbo and the RUF turbo.(boost kicks in at 3000 RPM and it really kicks. The 993 has a very smooth power band)

IF I COULD DRIVE ANY CAR

McLaren MP4-98T Two seater F1 race car-McLaren has a tandum seat F1 race car that they use for promotional purposes. They let VIPs from Mercedes Benz, journalists and people like the drivers wives ride in it to show them what is like to drive in a F1 car, I would love to be the passanger and I would also love to do a couple of laps with my wife in the car too. I proberly would spin all over the place, since I have never driven an F1 car, but to have the experience would be awesome.

nice! but I have a question on the F40, when looking at one at the Ferrari dealership in Dallas, I noticed two speakers just behind the seats. They were 'box' speakers, looked like they were just stuck up there, some aftermarket, half ass job. Then again, I'm sure no one wanted to disrupt the gorgeous CF layers surrounding the interior. But, have you seen something like that? Its my understanding, no radio. Correct?

The one that I drove had no radio. The car belonged to my boss's friend so he let me drive it a couple of times. The car is fast, but it is soooo low that driving it around town is really hard. On a flat track I am sure this car is Knarly. But Schatten you did not answer my questions.

yea I know I didn't answer, I can't think of that many fabulous cars that I've driven. The most fun I had driving a car was an 88 Supra prepped for Salt Flat racing. Drove it once out hwy 360, and well... I really can't say the speed that I took it - at least not on here, but I will say 150, 160, all of that up there was nothing. =D (it was about 7:30am on a Sat. back in 1992 for those of you who wanted to know, not a cloud in the sky nor a soul on the road) 0-60 though? uhmmm, it will get there, maybe 10 or so seconds. Just wasn't geared for that, really kicks in around 45 or 50, then from there up...ahhh =D

I can't say that I've driven that many exotics or many of them at all. Of course, if I could drive any car, it would probably be the McLaren F1, a bit different than your choice, but not too far off! (yes, I've seen the one that you are talking about - very cool!)

I think that a Supra set up to run on the Salt Flats is a fabulous car. I have never driven a Salt Flat car, it sounds like it would be really fun to go that fast. I don't care if the best car you drove is a 1984 Pinto as long as you have a good reason why that car was fun to drive to you.

I guess the fastest car I've driven would be twin turbo/nitrous Testarossa.
The current F1 cars are weak compared to the 1500hp turbos of old with slicks and a wider track that would be a blast.
But the car I would most like to drive I have only ridden in would be a 7 litre GT40.
That is one roaring V8

I'm assuming that you are making a distinction between simply driving the car and owning one.

If I could drive any car in the world it would be from this short list

McLaren F1
Ferrari Daytona Spyder
a real 427 Shelby Cobra
Porsche 550 spider
Lamborghini Muira

The best car I've driven was my Dr.'s 911 Turbo 3.6 This car was awesome. Soon after I tried to recapture that feeling by buying my own '88 911. It wasn't the same

I've been a passenger of the McClaren F1. It was... sweet.
