Sorry about your pet hamster. ine went "wild" for a few months when I was a kid - got out of its cage, lived in the house with all the other mice. Probably got some tatoos and a bad reputation with the chicks. One night the family cat went nuts by the stive - I removed the lower door, and there he was. I gave him away after that...

I also remember in second grade, Ricky Castine stepped on and smeared the class pet - a gerbil - for about a yard across the floor - VIVIDLY remember the smear. We buried it in a can and had a class ceremony...

That was 33 years ago...!
