IMO if you're living at home, you shouldn't be driving an S2000.

Priorities. If you were to take the money that you've spent on the car + insurance + taxes + maintenance you would already have the down payment you need to buy that house.

It just bugs me whenever I hear someone over 18 say "my house" when that person lives at home with mommy and daddy. If you're over 18 and haven't been able to cut the umbilical chord yet, just say it's my mommy's and daddy's house.

boo hooo get the f*$# over it. Some of us choose to be financially intelligent more than others. i.e. still at home while going to college saving a bundle on student loans and food and laundry etc etc.

My friend is 26 and still lives with his parents in a $2 million dollar secluded house on top of a mountain. He basically has his own wing and does what he pleases.

Not a bad life if you ask me.

Yeah, if you live out in the middle of nowhere or down payment a cardboard box to live in a big city. I live in the Silicon Valley and $100k job won't even get you a decent 25 years old house. I understand what you are saying and it shouldn't be use as an excuse to be dependent and lazy, but in many cases you cant just justify spending money on s2k is enough to down payment a house.

22 and on my own already AFTER college. The deal breaker for me would be picking up a girl at a bar , bringing her home, and telling her to "be quiet so you don't wake my parents up". Lame, grow up and GTFO; you have been a financial burden on your parents for 21+ yrs.

i live on my own, but i dont pay rent. and in august im moving into a 2 bedroom first floor apartment in 2o minutes from manhattan with a parking spot, backyard, deck and full basement all to my lonesome for free.

My boss likes me, i relocated from home (because our satellite offices building was sold), about an hour away to live closer to work, so he has been paying my rent, and now one of his tenants bailed so i get a fat apartment. WOOOt

Another friend "bought" his own place out of college. I mean bought using his mother's money. No one making $8/hr could afford a house on their own.

If you are funded by your parents it is still the same as living at home. I know people who receive upwards of $1,500 a month from their parents. I find it funny when those people make fun of the people still living at home with their parents. If you are accepting at amount of money you are doing more harm than the people living under the same roof.

it is impossible tho to move out on your own in a big city. just too expensive.

a 1br in nyc is like 1200, without utilities.

thats like 1500 a month for gots and ghoul.

i would never move out to pay rent. only a mortgage
