My toy that we designed finally arrives!
Pretty cool. My gf is getting into customizing these sorts of things- qees, dunnies. Are you going to be selling these at comic con or any of the usual places - kid robot, giant robot, nucleus, etc?
Finally got a free moment to post, sorry I took so long. Below are the details for Kuggs.
There are two lines of Kuggs right now - Kuggs (6" tall) and Kugg Minis (3/4" tall). Both will make its public debut and will be available for purchase at our booth 4636 at San Diego Comic-con - July 19-23.
Kuggs
The larger version comes in two designs - Sheep and Black Sheep. The large package comes with three toys and SRP is $65 - a 6" tall Kugg, a 3" long subway train and a smaller Kugg that stands 3/4" high. We wanted to make this urban vinyl/designer toy different from the ones that are out now, everything from the story behind it to the features and material.
Materials
For the final product (6" Kugg) , we decided to make it solid polyresin. We really liked the weight and the solid feel that it gave to the toy. This also gave us the opportunity to give the toy multiple points of articulation at the head and arms.
For the smaller Kugg and subway train, we really wanted liked the details that is designed into the subway car and PVC plastic was our answer. The 3" train, we purposefully left raw white so one can customize. Also worth noting is the 3" subway train is scaled down version of the box.
Features - Magnets
One feature that we included in the 6" Kugg package are magnets. We wanted the large Kugg to be able to hold the smaller Kugg and the train (holding the smaller Kugg and train is part of the story) if one chooses to without the traditional "Kung-Fu" grip. So we hid one magnet in each hand of the 6" Kugg. The magnets are carefully hidden, they were installed into its hands then bondo and sanded down for a seamless look.
There are three other magnets that are hidden into order to make this work - one in the head of the 3/4" Kugg and two in the subway car.
Features - Display
The last feature we designed into the toy was a display system, both for the large and small Kuggs. As collectors ourselves, we always run into the how to display the box while still being able to see the toy. We designed the box to look like a subway, it's actually 1/4 of a subway - you can have a complete train if you have 4 Kugg boxes. After one takes the 6" Kugg out of the plastic molding, he or she can place the 6" Kugg back into the box and it would be in scale. (The Sheep and Black Sheep boxes are different, on the inside and outside)
The other display system is the 3" subway car and the smaller Kugg. The train is held together by slipping two pieces of magnets into slots at each end. So the train can be taken apart by pulling the two half (lengthwise) away from each other. Once the pieces of the train are apart the train can be stacked straight or staggered. There are two pegs inside each half of the train which one can use to place the smaller Kugg into. The train can also connect end to end as well.
Production Run
The run for the 6" Kugg is limited to 250 for each design. In order words there are only 250 pairs of Kuggs. After this run, we will go the more "traditional" route and make them out of roto with the rare occassion of very limited run of solid polyresin Kuggs.

I had a chance to upload some sketches I drew for part one of the story. It's taking me forever and I haven't even color it yet! They are not done yet, I need to add more shadows
As you can see, the story will take place in New York - basically where I lived and see everyday.
- will post up more as soon as I get more done.
