Well for the first time i have fallen victim to the dreaded red ring of death! I hadn't even had the damn thing a year! Well i guess it's time to return it and my HD-DVD add on drive all at the same time.

 

Well is it a full complete ring or is it just a quarter of the ring if it's the full it's done if it's just a quarter there might hope

there are plenty of things to try before you scrap it

i got a 3/4 red ring, i unplugged it, took the hard drive off, started it back up, ran it for a few, then hooked the drive back up....now it's fine

 

Mine got zinged last week, tried all of the above and still no dice. Return process was surprisingly painless, almost like they have done this, like, a million times.

 

Thank god they're dropping the price on these crap buckets

 

I just bought one off of craigslist for $150 with HD Controllers and a bunch of other stuff.

Just at least on the tampa craigslist in the electronics section, every tenth listing is an xbox 360. it's too bad, i really think this make a difference when they come out with the next one. people will think twice.

I own both PS3 and 360. Owned the PS3 for a year before getting the 360 and I really think the difference is huge in video quality. Maybe that's just me though.

i would say the ps3 is more like casual gaming
where the xbox 360 is like hard core gaming

I meant a huge difference in favor of the PS3. There's no comparison in my opinion. If you're only rockin a PS2 then I doubt you've spent enough time with both to really form a solid opinion.

 

id think 3 months a year would be enough ps3 to get a decent opinion wouldnt you??

 

Mine does the 1/4 ring if I leave it off for weeks. But re-starting always (crosses fingers) clear it. Odd.
