www.babynameworld.com if you haven't already checked it out. Lots of interesting background on the names and divided up by origins. Also gives a list of Most Popular names so you can steer clear of those to give your child a unique identity.

yeah we check all the baby name sites but it takes to long. Plus, we just can't seem to agree on anything. I'd rather have someone throw something out we haven't thought of or skipped over in our search to see if we like it. She's being extremely picky. I wanted to name him Dan Jr. But she wouldn't go for that.

Braedon? Is that pronounced Bray-don? Hmm.

Stale_Hotdog - Shizam? Isn't that a boy's name?

Keep them coming a lot of good suggestions so far, will see what the wife says when she gets home.

You should name that kid after it's father. = Scot.

I won't contribute anything that you will actually use, so I won't even bother.

Dan, you guys should set some groundrules. Personally, I feel girls names should be melodic and complex, boys should be simple. Both should be unique but easy to remember and pronounce (it aids in making friends), as well as difficult to mangle into any embarrassing words (you know how cruel kids can be). Also it helps if an endearing nickname is easily found inside. A friend of mine has a little girl named Peyton, who has since become Petey to her parents, to the pleasure of everyone, including Peyton. So in line with my groundrules, strictly as an example, a name like Rhapsody Chen for a girl could easily be shortened to Sadie. The girl would relish the complexity and individuality of her name, yet it has a simple built-in endearing short version. Although childless, I've always felt it would be simpler to have them around for a while before naming them. I'm a firm believer that in a strange way, entities (like children or pets) reveal their names or name themselves after being in the world a bit. But, unfortunately the law requires a name before then, so good luck and I'll weigh in if anything comes to mind.
