Dude,
just use winamp to convert to mp3--its free. wma files sizes are small, thus taking up less space. I agree that its gay that it does automatically come in mp3 format, but it takes no time to convert w/ winamp.
dude... I did...

to rip them... Winamp will do it... but at a .2 bit rate (that's 1/8th the speed of play!!) which took almost 6 hours... and then I found out that they will ONLY rip it to a WINAMP specific agent!!

that wasn't compatible with anything either! So now I have 2 worthless copies of every song on my puter!

I ended up purchasing Winamp pro and was able to do the .mp3 conversion that way...

is there a way to convert .wma to .mp3 withOUT ripping it off a burned CD?

this is not an endorsement for apple

have you tried an iPod? iPod works with iTunes. I would never get anything from iTunes if it wasn't for an Apple Mp3 player. But I like their capacity of carrying thousands of songs.

It takes me "about" the duration of the song to convert to Mp3,
3-4 minutes, my version of winamp rips the shit out of the wma...cda files.

ok this is what you do... download those songs... in the wma format... then download a program called jukebox... this program allows you to convert any file, from mp3 to wav, from wav to wma, or whatever you want..... this way you download the song then convert them to mp3's though this program and then you burn the songs....

secondly.. just download limewire for downloads...

Couldn't you take the output audio from your sound card and put it into the input audio of your sound card and make a fresh recording in mp3 format?

there should be a thing on there where you're able to convert.... it depends on which version you have... go to file then to convert and then you can mess aroundn with the things there....
