Default Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest

So, some American dude (don't remember his name) edged the 5-time champion Kobayashi to take the title. 66 hot dogs in 12 minutes. Incredible.

Some call these guys "athletes". Reaction??!!

Can't imagine the amount of sodium and cholesterol that goes along with that.

Even though he's a Bay Area guy, I've never been a fan of Chestnut, since he's really arrogant.

I'm sure Kobayashi will be back with a vengeance next year and reclaim his throne

The real question is, how many hot dogs could these guys eat if there were no time limit??

is it really that surprising that a guy who lives near SF is the world champion at swallowing wieners?

I'm sure the title is heading back to Japan next year. Like someone said, he screwed up his jaw during training.

I've always wanted to try one of these contests. I'm not sure its a "sport", but it certainly takes a lot of training, dedication, and talent.

Don't think so.. kobayashi set a record at last years contest with 53.5 dogs.. Joey chestnut (this years champion) broke that record a little while back with 59.5 dogs, and shattered it again with 66 dogs this year. I don't think kobayashi would have won. This was Chestnut's 10th eating world record since late 2005.
