Ok I have a Nvidia GeForce4 MX 440 card in my computer. I used to play FFXI about 5 or 6 months ago and everything ran fine. I decided the other day I wanted to play some more so I re-installed it and everything was running fine. I made my new character and logged in. The screen was black and only the audio was playing. I asked a friend and he suggested just updating my drivers for my video card. So i went to the NVIDIA website and downloaded the latest driver for my card. Installed, restarted computer then went to run the game again. The intro and the prompt screens started to run slow and the picture quality looked like crap, all grainy and stuff. I think oh well, go to log into the game, and my screen goes black and does this click click thing, and comes up with an error message. It says make sure your Direct3d is working correctly then try again. I search on the internet and find that direct3d is linked to Directx? So i get the latest version of Directx, which is Directx9c. Try that and still the same problems. Now I do a little more research and fidn something telling me to go to my start -> run -> and type "dxdiag". I do that and check the tabs to see if anything is wrong. I go to the display tab and there is a button that says "test Direct3d". So I click it to see if there are any problems. It comes back with "Test failed at step 8(Creating 3D device): HRESULT =0x887602eb (error code)". So I click ok, it runs another test same results but comes back with "HRESULT = 0x8876086a (3D not available)". Now I have no idea what to do. I've tried other games on my computer now and am running into the Direct3d issue. I have no idea what to do now. If someone knows how to fix this I'd REALLY REALLY appriciate it. This is starting to get annoying. Thanks in advance.
