Need help with a $351.00 parking ticket....
i got a ticket today...its from a third party...i got a ticket and san jose state univeristy (third party...not police)...it was a parking citation for parking in a handicapped spot with an expired placard...(i had to pee real bad...) but the thing is that they are charging me $351.00 and they have the time wrong...my ticket says that i was ticketed at 9:39am, but i was at a different school at the time attending a different class(i can prove it)....i think its because of the daylight savings time thing...is there anyway to fight this? i would appreciate this alot...thanks....
I am now mounting my high horse for my sermon.
If you are not handicapped and you were parked in a handicapped spot illegally then I say this. Shame on you. You got off easy with a piss ant ticket. You damn well better pay the fine and consider yourself lucky, you lazy bastard.
Off my horse now.
If you simply have an expired placard then I would assume you can contest the problem and SJSU will likely look the other way.
I hope your situation is the later. I'd hate for one moment to believe that anyone on this board would stoop so low as to use a handicapped spot when they aren't entitled to it.

Oh, sorry. Here's how to get out of your ticket:
Write a letter of apology to the issuer stating that you fully support the parking legislation and have every intention to abide in future. Explain that in this instance you got caught short by the call of nature and had no option but to use the disabled spot.
Mail this to the issuer promptly.
Oh, and put a cheque for $351 in the envelope as well.

you said it expired.. can you get another one reissued?
Did you have some sort of ID on the card that can be traced back to you? cause if they just wrote that you parked illegally, you can maybe get it renewed? and say, HEY!!.. i have a right to park here....
but maybe... you shouldn't have parked in the spot.. and given some guy in a wheelchair the oppertunity to park there,.. instead of crossing traffic..
hehe..
