Need help with cell phone recommendation
I finally had a chance to really check out the specs on the new Treo 650/Ace (supposedly upgrade from the Treo 600), and came away sorely disappointed - perhaps it's because of the hype? But anyways, I'm looking for a phone (or PDA phone) that has simple addressing functions (name, address, different phone types, email), a minimum VGA camera (megapixel would be nice too), Java for games, and MP3 capabilities (with expandable memory cards).
Anything come close to that?

well looks like the motorola V700 is the closest...
i don't need a PDA as a phone, just a phone that i can rely on for a few years to keep phone numbers, emails, and some simple games to keep me occupied, and maybe some music to keep me amused.

The Nokia 7610 or Nokia 6620 both have all the features you've requested. They run the Symbian OS and are very expandable.
The 6620 has EDGE which is faster than GPRS and also uses MMC instead of RS-MMC for expandable memory. It also lets you hear MP3s in stereo vs the mono 7610.
The 7610 is smaller and much more stylish. It also has a better camera. (Megapixel compared to the VGA 6620)
Both have or can install RealPlayer for MP3 playback. They can also install 3rd party MP3 players. The standard phone book allows: first name, last name, job title, 10 different phone numbers per entry, 3 email addresses, web site, 3 addresses, birthday and note. With the Symbian OS, you can emulate all Gameboy/Gameboy color games. It can also emulate Nintendo games. The games for the OS itself also aren't bad. It also has Java support. You can also browse S2ki on it's built in Opera browser. You can sync the address book with Outlook using the included software and the included USB cable, Bluetooth, or IRDA (6620 only). The phone can also act as a modem for your laptop, allowing internet access anywhere you have a GPRS/EDGE signal present.
If you have any questions at all, PM or post here.
