Default Need help with playing movies over the internet.

Hi guys I need help with playing movies over the internet. I have Windows Media, Real and Quicktime. But the movies I downloaded just isn't playing on them. Am I doing something wrong? Or is there something else that I have to do?

And what is codec by the way? The website that I downloaded the movie from says" codec may be needed".

Try this link out. It has several of the major codecs on it.

the main codecs to get are:

DiVX 3.11
Divx 4
NAVI
MPEG4
smrpatch

Get all those and you should be able to play just about everything.

Does anyone have any good divx movie sites? I've got some at home, I'll post later

A codec stands for coder/decoder. It's basically a way to take an analog movie and turn it into a digital movie. When the program says it is missing a codec, that means it doesn't have the proper software to decode the movie. As deadpedal has posted, there are many codecs that can be downloaded for free. I would get the Divx 4 codec, since that can handle both MPEG4 and Divx movies.
