He just got neutered Monday. Neutering them before it's too late is supposed to keep them from learning to mark so they don't go around marking everything.
one thing that's been failed to be mentioned in this thread is where the dog has mistakenly gone pee / poo indoors... MAKE sure to 100% clean the spot. Buy deodorizer specifically made for pets to get rid of the scent. Once a dog marks a "spot" in the house as his toilet area...unless you complete remove all traces of the scent... it will always go back there to do his business. Training can only do so much, you also have to understand how the dog works and use this to your advantage...
I am very bummed out with my puppy. I still have to clean up a lot and he can't seem to learn very well. Maybe he's still too young to have a lot of understanding, but I could only hope he'll learn fully.
I let him out to the backyard often to let him play, relax and do his business. But often when he came back inside, he would still pee and poop only minutes later. As I cleaned up his nasty poop, I often thought to myself, "If I didn't love animals so much, I would have you killed. I would cut off your head and poop on it." Okay, that's a little too much exaggeration, but I'm pretty disappointed with this learning and teaching process. I'm too much of an animal lover, so I wouldn't harm a hair on any animal, much less my puppy or cat. But if I wasn't, I would cut off his head, take out his brains and poop in it. Okay, that maybe out of line, but you can tell I'm pretty bummed out right now because I just cleaned up two piles of nastiest-smelling poops.
Yes, I know, I'm not ready for a puppy. But I will try my best to train and raise him. Trust me, animal-loving genes run in my blood and veins, so I would never harm an animal. What I said above is just for meaningless venting and out of frustration.
Yellow, it's always frustrating. Keep with it as he matures he'll get better. Puppies are so much like human babies that people don't understand. Take pictures of his cuteness now and you'll enjoy his companionship as as adult.
Yeah neutered at about 22 weeks. My vet said that was actually on the later time to do it because if their marking instinct comes out before you neuter you may not be able to get rid of it with the neuter.
