If nothing changes, then one thing will change: you'll be missing a (insert your job title here).

Yeah I'm a fan of that one too, I copied it to a file on my computer that I'm sure I'll find in the future. I think I'll start collecting quotes that I like.

The response in the email that went out to us. "if nothing changes, nothing changes" " if it is to be, its up to me"
"The less things change, the less they stay the same."

ie, if things don't change, things around the office are going to change as well, probably not for the better.

Of course, that phrase requires a remotely intelligent management team to decipher it. I'm not certain you have one.

Without knowing all the history of the job and business, our answers may not be fair.

Mikey- the problem with your response is... If what we know seems to be true, and he doesn't seem to give a shit, then he'll say - OK, bye.

If the OP doesn't leave, he's lost all credibility for negotiation in the future (the boy who cried wolf). If the OP does leave, he's out of a job, and the other X number of people will be worked that much harder.

You think either will make a difference to the boss?

You're absolutely right, to be honest, when I first read the thread I thought it was more an question about "what would you like to say?" as opposed a real response.

In real life I might've blurted something like that out though, and kicked myself for it afterward. I've been working on biting my tongue to walk away and prepare thoughts and responses before throwing one off the cuff.
