Cheap and projectors dont mix. If you buy a cheap one, youll spend the savings quickly replacing bulbs.
which is why my PJ has bulb life of 30,000 hours and costs $60 to replace
[QUOTE=NFRs2000NYC,Feb 27 2007, 03:45 PM] I would recommend you spend a few extra bucks, and get something with AT LEAST 1000 lumens, from a mid/top tier manufacturer.
I would head here and do some research http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=68
If you buy an LCD projector, you will probably need to sit 1.5-1.8x the screen size away from the screen so you don't see the screen door effect on a 720p projector, so keep this in mind. DLP projectors can produce the rainbow effect, and if you're affected by this, it can be very annoying.

We have to redo my dad's entire basement. Only reason he has a projector is because many years ago, when all we had were a few recliners and a standard 65" projection (many, many years ago haha), his basement flooded and ruined everything from the pool table to the tv and couches. My brother and I will be given a budget this summer to redo everything in the basement, since last time my dad didn't throw too much money at the floor/walls, for fear of losing it all again. He has since upgraded his sump. It's funny because he has a sensor that beeps his phone if the water gets to a certain level, so we like to take a cup of water and just drop it on the sensor. Freaks him out
What would you recommend the best color be for a room with a projector/screen? This is in the basement, and there is one window but we have a cover for it, so we can get complete darkness. Does it matter what color the walls are?
I go home in two days for spring break, i'll snap a few photos of the setup and take some measurements.
