Default Need your advice about a situation with a shop.

I'm not going to name the shop just yet but here's the situation. I currently have a sponsorship with a shop for 2 years and I receive $100 in store credit from them every month. I have yet to collect any of the money so I am up to $1300 in credit. So every time I call to get a quote for a part the price they give me is outrageously expensive. So its obvious they are trying to take advantage. For example I asked for a quote on an AEM EMS Series 2 and was expecting to hear something around $1500 since AEM sells it for $1545. They quoted me for $1925!!! So I'm stuck and don't know what to do. I also do have a signed contract that for the sponsorship. PLEASE HELP!!!

Tell them that you can find that part for cheaper at so and so place and ask if they will price match. If not, then just get your money's worth with other parts and don't resign with them when the contract is up. Bring in/show them the prices elsewhere and then ask them why they are charging so much.

Use ypou credit to get the AEM at their inflated price then stop doing business with them. Your probably being overcharged for most everything they do for you.

You're seriously complaining that you have to pay 600$ instead of $1500 for a tuning device? I don't want to live on this planet anymore...

But if you're that determined: Have a friend call in and get a quote, if they get the same quote then you're just sponsored by a shop that overcharges its customers.

Its not the money. Its the idea. I don't like somebody taking advantage of me. Especially when I'm helping them out by advertising there shop at track events.

I guess I would talk in person to the shop owner or the guy/gal that you made the original deal with. Tell them that you are dissapointed in the high price of the product that you would like to get. Is your sponsorship/agreement in writing? See what they have to say. My guess is that the product you want is not available at a discount to them and they are marking it up from their cost. Kinda not right, but what was your original agreement?? I take it that this is some independent shop, not a dealer. Were they thinking the credit was to be used for parts and service that they normally do? Or, did thay tell you they would/could order and supply any accessories as well?

Just talk to the owner. If this is his decision, just take the $1500.00 part for $600.00, then make a decision if you want to continue with the deal.

If you deceide to end the "sponsorship" because of this poor deal, just let them know. The shop owner will be forced to make a business decision. Is this sponsorship bringing in additional work to his shop? Or in his mind, is he just giving you some free parts and service.

Just my 2 pennies. Hope all works out for you.

It wouldn't bother me personally, basically you are going to get the AEM part for $600 and you don't have to worry about shipping. Your credit might not be what you expect but you are still getting a smoking deal. Maybe they have higher overhead than other shops, but at the end of the day you are still getting a worthwhile deal IMO.

Holy hell...you're acting like a spoiled kid.

They probably gave you $100 credit each month expecting that you'd get your car serviced there, not save up the amount. For them to come out and even be willing to sell you the EMS for $600 it crazy to me. I'd hop on it and stop complaining. Times are tough for shops and drivers. Get it for cheap from them or buy it at full price somewhere else.

I'd be happy just to pay for cost on parts.
