Default need your opinion on traveling in november

im thinking of going on a trip to see most of the south and possibly all of the west coast.

i live in nj, id like to head down the east coast to FL to hang for a bit. Then id want to head up through georgia, tenn, alabama, kentucy, miss, louisiana, arkansas, missouri, oklahoma, and then up in TX (where my family lives).

Id then consider taking the 2nd part from TX all the way to seattle and then down the coast back to TX.

Id leave November1st and want to be in Seattle sometime by december and then be done by jan some time.

Everyone is getting on my ass and saying - "its going to be cold and its not going to be fun and you wont be able to see this and that and no one is going to be out and you wont meet new people and yada yada yada".

But i want to go now, i dont want to wait till spring time.

Can you guys (maybe some who have done this or live in the states) give me some input on my thoughts. Do you really think what there saying is true?

I mean, I'm staying away from the North bc i know it will be balls ass cold. But the south and west coast???? Some input would help.

Thanks!!!

Yea...... If you are going to travel through the midwest its hit or miss.... It will be cold, but atleast here in the Saint Louis area we havent been seeing a lot of snow in the winter. I dont know that I would necessarily agree that "its not going to be fun and you wont be able to see this and that and no one is going to be out and you wont meet new people and yada yada yada".
You'll still have fun, but you would certainly have MORE fun and be able to do MORE things in the spring, summer, or fall.

Ummm... Agreed that it isn't the best time of year.

GA isn't too bad in the winter. There are occasional convertible-friendly days. Don't bother with Alabama or Mississippi, the road construction sucks and the land is flat. Tennessee and the Carolinas are fun. There are lots of good roads like the dragon, etc. Unfortunately the good roads are also susceptible to snow due to their elevation. The Harley crowd doesn't go after Octoberfest.

I can name off a bunch of great stops within a 3-state radius. Lmk if you get serious about this.

I've made that trip in the winter. It's really hit or miss. I got stuck on a frozen section of highway in ARIZONA of all places. Though you may not hit frigid cold weather you may get cold rain. The spring would be much better.

tapout already took a vacation, I guess none of the rest of us can now.

I don't see anything wrong with going in the fall. Especially if you're going through the South. The weather will be fine for much of the south and west, but mid-west and great plains can be tricky. You'll miss a lot of the summer tourist traffic at places, so I think its a good time to go, other than the fact that it sounds like you won't be home for Thanksgiving or Christmas, which seems odd.

If I went in the fall, I'd go the other way around, get through the midwest early, then est coast, then through the South and FL in January.
