Ah, the plight of the people who buy aftermarket exhausts because the stock ones aren't annoying or loud enough. The son most likely got worse conversations if he was idling in the driveway at night.

98 percent of the population hates the sound of an aftermarket exhaust on a four cylinder.

Pay for her to live by herself, or deal with it. Her parents house, they can say whatever the hell they want.

Most of my neighbors are pretty good, like my car.

One neighbor has an old hotrod, cool car, but he starts ot at like 6:30 every morning in the summer, warms it up for 20 mins LOUD!!
sometimes he wont even drive it, just rev it in his driveway, and then puts it back in the garage.

I used to have a neighbor (moms house)
she always yelled at me to SLOW DOWN!! I would drive 40-50 km in the 50 zone.

*Edit* this was in my 91 Accord, stock muffler, super quiet*

It was pretty funny when one day my mom came home and told me the lady yelled are her to slow down too. (Mom Drives super slow)

With all these posts about, "The speed limit is 25 and I'm driving 20, and the neighbors are yelling at me to slow down" does anyone ever think to say something to them?

A simple, "Excuse me Mr./Mrs. Neighbor, I have been driving slower than the speed limit every time I pass by this area. Just because my car is loud does not mean I'm speeding." What could they say? You can give them a ride at 20mph and show them.

That being said, I'm almost positive that besides the occasional older folk/complainer, you may be doing more than you're posting here. It's quite rare for someone to go out of their way and yell/knock on your door/etc for simply driving by at the speed limit (or below) while having a loud car. As said previously, it comes down to respect. Give it, and you will most likely receive it. I seriously doubt some people here are simply "minding their own business" and driving under the speed limit, when at a previous time, they were probably doing burnouts and being disrespectful at some point.

Most of my neighbors are pretty cool about my car, they wave to me when I'm in the driveway washing the car or driving by their house.

Then again, there is one guy about a block away from my house that puts out a big neon green plastic "Slow down, children at play" sign in the street 10 feet from the curb in front of his house. Normally I wouldn't care, but it's far enough out in the street that I've actually come close to clipping people on the other side of the road because I have to swerve to avoid the damn sign. I understand you want your kids to be safe, but how about maybe teaching them not to run out in the damn street instead of putting a huge sign out that everyone has to avoid. I've been really tempted to pull up with a friend, throw the sign in the car, and drive off, but I'm sure he'd just buy another more obnoxious one.

For the most part, I make a point to be nice to my neighbors, but that guy just crosses the line by endangering motorists with his stupidity.

I had a 4ft halfpipe in my front yard when I lived in my last house. I decided to throw a party, this was in highschool, and I wrote a letter to all the neighbors warning them that there would be some noise going on into the night, but that's about it. I go out to find a paper taped by my mailbox (the neighborhood's mailboxes were all together), telling me I was breaking the law by putting something in their mailbox, and that they would call the police if they heard any noise after 9:00pm. Well 9:00pm came and went and we kept skating, playing music and hanging out. He came out yelling and shining a flashlight at us. We kept skating. He yelled. We kept skating, I tried to negotiate, said we would turn down the music, but it was a Friday night and weren't going to stop skating, he picked a fight with the wrong friend that almost turned violent. I then told him to go home and leave us alone. After that every time I skated I would get harassed.

Well a little time passed and some Harley mechanics moved next door. They would be working on their bikes, making a lot of noise, and be riding around at all hours of the night. Well one night I was skating and he started to yell at me again, all the lights when on in the neighborhood when he started yelling. One of the Harley mechanics (who I befriended) went over and said (sounding like Chong from C&C), "Shut the **** up man! You woke up the kid!" (referring to a two year old son of one of the men). I hear him get quiet and squeak, "but he's skateboarding." The guy returns with, "I don't care what the **** he's doing, you woke up our kid, and are making a lot more noise than he is. SHUT THE **** UP! Don't make me tell you again man." A different neighbor came out who is a game-warden and ended up calming things down. I had to call it a night. So when I got my license I would drop a gear before pulling into my neighbor hood. His family would go up the street and play catch in the middle of the road, I was headed home one day and they wouldn't move. When they finally did I began to accelerate to 25, and they started to yell. I told them to **** off. I moved shortly after, but I tipped a port-a-potty over in their yard and TPed their house when I came back to visit.

[QUOTE=Shadow_S2K,Apr 12 2007, 08:31 AM] So? Ever thought of just nicely talking to the old lady? Instead of flipping her off? What good does that do? Makes you feel real good flippin off an old lady dosn't it?

A well rounded example of my love of neighbors. Good stuff.
