Default Neighbor problem

i live in a condo - the kind with a very large and ventilated garage. i USED to work on my car (or other S2000s) in the garage, but a couple of weeks ago our newly elected HOA board member (some old lady who's alone and had way too many face lifts) came by and said "you can't work on your car here, it's against HOA rules". i looked at her, her smirk, and that teeny weeny power she felt she was exuding from her plastic looking face and decided not to comment and let it go.

just thought i'd rant a bit. i've been working on the car for the past 2 years (and before that on my other cars), nobody ever bothered to say anything.

Kick her ass Ming......

Imagine the look on her plastic face when you punch her in the nose....

That sucks bro.... I had one of the maintenance guys say the same thing to me when I was installing my fog lights in front of my apartment building.... I gave him the finger and said I pay my rent, now fix my toilet and leave me alone...

HATERS..... they should all disappear...

The Title company with whom you closed on your condo should have supplied you with a copy of the covenants governing your garage. Look in there. If working on a car isn't stated, keep it up.

It's sooo great owning a home with a two car garage. My
brother and I put the Hard Dog roll bar in his Miata last
summer and we a had all the room and time one could want.

Rich,

Great advice on reading throught the HOA covenants to reference the "no working on your car in the garage" bit. If it's not in there, I'd ask the HOA officers and board what the basis is for this ruling. Also, pay very close attention for meeting notices where changes to the bylaws might be put to vote.

The only relief the HOA has is to file suit, depending on the case you might find yourself up against other owners who are willing to accept a dues assesment to fund litigation. Then again, other owners might see a suit as an un-needed expense and not support it. Either way, attend the meetings and state your position. It's YOUR home to for crying out loud.

Good Luck

Mingster,
Find someone you know that works in the medical field to give you a little tube of xylocane. Find some excuse to invite yourself over to her condo (lost your key etc.) Take her tube of denture adhesive and put as much of the xylocane in the end of the tube that you can Trust me she wont mouth off to you for a while.

Cut a deal with her...

You'll stop work on your car if she stops work on her face.
