Neighbor problem
My former HOA stated that no business could be conducted in the house and when we were working on our cars once, we got a letter telling us to cease and desist with our "car repair business."
in the end, they wanted a letter stating that the car thing was a hobby, and we were off the hook. Perhaps you could start there, sending a letter stating that it IS a hobby and you would like consideration as such? (the key here is that even if you are installing for customers, never let anyone know that or see money change hands)
Chances are good that your HOA documents probably said something about working on cars in the sense that they didnt want you jacking engines out of cars and doing rebuilds or something. I'd definitely read your bylaws, and if they don't support your cause, go to the next meeting and ask politely to find out how you might be allowed to continue doing your work if the complaints only number One.
