New AZ immigration measures
Im all for the immigration enforcement being taken a step higher, but this bill just seems fishy... cops are now immigration officers as well? Is this a step in the right direction or are they plotting something greater?

It makes sense to me. Federal law states that state and local law enforcement are permitted to enforce immigration laws. The Supreme Court upheld that law recently by throwing out an ACLU appeal to an Appelate Court decision (USA v VASQUEZ-ALVAREZ) involving the deportation of an illegal immigrant who turned out to have a long criminal record.
It sounds like AZ has something similar to the LAPD's Special Order 40 policy and they want to get rid of it. It makes complete sense to me, Special Order 40 is a violation of federal and state law.

Who needs immigration officers when they don't do jack. This measure is far too late however. Btw....Joe Arpaio for President 2012. Round up all these illegals and get them the **** out of here.
