New car illustrations
http://vdream.com/blog/blog_comments/26#comments
That's a link to my blog, it's a little example of some souped up cars for the facebook app that I'm building.
These would be what you could build. The system uses an intricate system of part layering. Every car has about 50 or so individual parts that come on it, about 20 of them being visual, and they are stacked on top of each other using a coordinate system. Then, if the user virtually buys, say, a new bumper or a new set of wheels, the stock parts will be replaced, and the new parts will get thrown on their car using their own coordinate system.
The bottleneck is obviously going to be illustrations at this point. (I don't make them, I manage a guy overseas. Only one though, because we can't afford two right now.)
But of course, going ricer-style will not be the only thing you could do! When the part system is built out, you'll be able to build it club-racer style, or even some random style of your own, because there'll be some neat accessories. We'll be building out our car database as well as the aftermarket part database as time goes on. When we do an S2K I think it'll be the AP2, because I like the looks better =), but it won't be hard to make an AP1 version, as it'll just be a different wheel set and a different front bumper and headlights.
Anyway, what do you guys think of the illustrations?

We'll be having weekly polls. General polls for "what car do you want to see next", and model-specific polls like "what parts do you want to see next." I'll be taking those probably from the comments section of the facebook app. So if someone has an S2K, only they will get the S2K poll. Then I will get my man overseas to draw that part and it'll be available. should be pretty cool.
