Default New Dog!

Just got a 8-week old Chow Chow as a companion for my 6 mo. Shih Tzu. They keep play fighting that it's hard to tell when they're getting serious and when they're just playing.

I hear that Chows are one of the most 'difficult' breeds as a single dog, and even harder when you pair them up with another dog of different breed! Any experience here?

Chows are dominant dogs by nature.

Chows are kewl!

I have a chow/pit mix... best dog I ever had... he has a chow tongue and tail, but the fur and head of a pit. He's the goofiest/loveable-ist (??) dog I've ever known... but he can be mean when he wants too.... just not to his family members.

Careful!! My Boner is a Shih Tsu!

They're great dogs!! Very peaceful, well tempered, and put up with a lot of CR@P with no complaints!
They were bread buy the Chinese a thousand years ago or so. The Chinese actually put the dogs in the sleves of their robes to give them warmth. They relied on their keen sense of hearing for security. They hear incredibly soft sounds and would bark to alert larger dogs of intruders.

My Boner gets aroused over the least little thing!

NICE!! a Chow Chow!!

I used to have one and it was one of the most friendliest dogs. It never got in a fight but seemed to know when strangers where near the house. It never seemed territorial/rebellious/etc. Not the smartest dog though...could never get him trained in 11 years. Only listened to my dad for some reason, weird. Unfortunately, he died a few months ago. He had a good long life.

Now we have a Pug and a Maltisse In different homes though, divorced parents.
