Default New Harry Potter book: has anyone gotten it?

I left Barns and Noble at 11pm, being too tired to wait behind a hundred or so dressed up 12-year old kids.

Did anyone get the book?

did you have to wait until 12pm Pacific time? You could have bought it 3 hours earlier here in Pennsylvania..........I could have read you some pages over the phone.

They were actually selling it at Albertson's (a grocery store chain). Check out the book at a supermarket near you.

For those of you that are reading it, what's your general opinion so far?

Haven't bought it yet, but waiting to buy it for my cousin, he's a big fan... I think I'll wait till the Harry Potter craze dies down a little bit and buy it in a couple weeks..

Got it, am about 150 pages in. (I was shopping for stuff from Amazon a few months ago and noticed they were pre-ordering, so I figured what the heck.) Same writing quality as the others. It's always struck me that while it's about kids, it's not meant as a kid's book. (Even though JKR has pretty much said it is.) Maybe it's because of the different culture, but she uses words even I'm not familiar with - and I got a 750 SAT verbal way back when. I think it's awesome that kids these days are so interested in a writen work at this high of a level. The world needs more like it.

A friend of mine refuses to read the books simply because they're so popular. I think that's rather silly - it's letting other people dictate you choices just as much as reading them only because they are so popular.
