New Hummer H2 in all its glory
That just reinforces my thoughts that Hummer people are idiots. I saw a guy three weeks ago take is brand new H2 with paper plates into a stream bed. You don't know how bad I wanted to see the get stuck.

I used to drive a Hummer in the Corps, and it could do damn near everything. The thing people don't seem to realize is that they need to be equipped to do so. So here I am to protect the honor of these "interesting" vehicles (But not stupid soccer moms).
We were once running around some SUV rec area in the San Gabriel Valley for "practical" driving lessons. Basically one of those "take it out and see what it can do" things. We had rednecks following us in their raised Fords, Chevys and Nissan 4x4's. What a surprise they had.
The guy in the raised Nissan must have had the bottom of the door about 3' off of the ground. he decided to follow us while we were practicing river fording. He evidently wasn't aware that our Hummer had a fording kit on
and we could easily take water 6' in depth with only the snorkel intake and exhaust exposed. Instead we went in water deep enough to cover our hood. Unfortunately for him, that's about 4' of water depth and that was enough to come in through the doors and short out the ECU. Someone eventually pulled him out.
We got our ass chewed later that day because our Hummer was overheating like hell on the trip back to the base. Apparently there was a design flaw in the Hummer where the electric radiator cooling fans were made out of fiberglass. Imagine these things going full-tilt when you hit the water. Yup, it broke all but 2 blades off the sucker.
