cali99boy, the reason that none of your trades go through is because the price is too low. I think the price of the stock has to be above a certain point (maybe $1 or $1.50) for buyandhold to let you buy it.

buyandhold is definitely not the brokerage to be trading penny stocks, or any type of day trading. The trading windows make day trading very similar to throwing darts while blindfolded.

The more you risk, the greater the potential rewards. I never do less than $1000 in a transaction, to keep the $10 commission under 1%. I'd prefer to go higher (lower percentage commission), but the majority of my savings is in safe things like SPY, and I don't allow myself to day-trade with it.

You need to remember that if you buy $100 of stock, and pay $10 to buy and $10 to sell, that $100 just cost you $120, so even if your stock went up 20%, you're only breaking even. On the other hand, the real issue here is how much are you willing to lose? Buying penny stocks is, quite often, a gamble... don't let anyone tell you that it's not very risky.

Haven't heard anything bad about them - which is good. It's probably a good choice

I started a new thread for investment Q and A, so we can keep this one clean for stock picks: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...threadid=136580

I have an IRA set up with Scottrade and I love them. Quick responses, I'm always able to get some one on the phone and they have quite a few offices around the nation. That said I don't day-trade out of that account so I don't know how well their services handle it.
