Nissan unveiled the new Z car today. I don't like it much at all. A convertible is planned. Pricing will start under $30,000.

SPECS:
- 3.5-liter VQ-series V6 producing 260-plus horsepower
- 6-speed manual transmission or 5-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission
- Rear-wheel drive
- Estimated 0 - 60 mph time of less than 6.0 seconds

The exterior looks like a combination of the Celica (lights) and a TT (shape).

I think it is Fugly.

Hmmmm, not bad but not exactly what I was hoping for. Hope they make some design changes before it goes into production. Powertrain sounds good though!

Reminds of a 996 and TT hybrid...kind of ugly. I think the wheels make it look too chunky...a nice set would improve it a bit I would say.

I think that part of the "Z" car persona is lost here...Z's in all their forms have always had that wedge, or knive shape. Evolving the car to a bubble, to me seems to drift off of what a Z car should be. Cars should evolve, but to keep the name, the car should keep some references to its past...just look at the Corvette's consistent niche popularity. If this is how Japanese designers are taking cars now, it will be interesting to see how Honda will evolve the NSX. I wonder if they will keep any elements of the current design?

It looks like a "tiptronic"-style automatic with manual override, based on the two working pedals and the side slot to the right of the shift gate. Porsche, Audi, VW and probably a few others have this function now, but I think this would be the first application of it for Nissan.

It looks out of proportion to me. I bet it will look a fair bit different when it hits the shore.
